Southwest Airlines

This is the absolute worst airline app out there I fly a lot for work and pleasure and southwest is the worst because no iPad app doesnt remember your login even when you are logged in you have to reenter your flight confirmation number to check in Southwest corporate you pride yourself on a hasslefree ish airline model with a focus on customer service but your most relevant interface with your customers is laughably bad I hate it we all hate it and it has actually made me consider rededicating my miles to United because it is so hard to use your app for anything Please put some of your profits towards hiring a competent app dev team Thank you     If I could give it 0 I would

The app is getting better and better I love southwest over any other airline This app is almost perfect but it doesnt save my user ID even if I have remember me checked Please fix it for iPhone ASAP              Bring it to passbook

The app works for what its trying to do but it should be trying to do more than be a limited version of the web site Main shortcomings 1 No real way to track your flight as in push notifications for flight status changes Instead you have to search for your flight each time 2 No Touch ID 3 Upcoming flights isnt smart enough to update with delays 4 Rapid Rewards account loggedin functions are very limitedcant edit your account settings see your points history etc inapp 5 Generally everything is slow lots of loading screens and its constantly making you reenter things if you leave the app for a little while very frustrating when checking flight statuses or booking           Works but lacks features

Is it a little buggy yes The loading wheel should be a different color other than white At the end of the day I can still purchase plane tickets and use it for a boarding pass I recently used the Apple Watch version to access my boarding pass and it was great Theyll work out the kinks eventually              Good App

but until we can check in a whole family using mobile boarding passes there isnt much point for us Right now the website says you cant get a mobile boarding pass for multipassenger itineraries We hope this changes soon As a note Delta manages just fine with this so it can be done        Would like to like this app

Every time I open this app I have the same thoughts is this a joke Is someone messing with me I cant comprehend how this app was designed so poorly It runs similar to the airline itself incompetently It always freezes and always ALWAYS logs you out Never convenient Its the reason I still use paper boarding passes I dont trust the app A toddler could design a better app     Is this app a joke

The amount of things this app doesnt do is silly Theres no reason it cant do more given how much theyve invested in technology Examples it doesnt remember your login you cant create a boarding pass and therefore cant add it to passbook and you have to manually search for reservations using the supernotcustomerfriendly alphanumeric reservation code you have to search your email to find The app is lame The only valueadd is its slightly more mobile friendly eg adaptable font sizing than their lame website     Lazy

SW needs a whole new design team For starters why would you create an app that continuously logs you out All this money and you cant stay logged in Come on Easy to use and easy to login should be their focus Going back and forth in the app is a pain too Im done here hope they can use some of their advertisement money to make a better app     Needs a lot of work

Its not hard to write a decent iOS app these days This is a true embarrassment to the company However It is fun playing with the app watching how truly awful it is while waiting for your flight though     So bad its good

Only phone no iPad The app refuses to keep your reward number not easily remembered which is super annoying when you remember this 5 mins from airport security to get your boarding pass Cant take a username or didnt PLEASE update to use fingerprint ID feature of iPhone My bank does why not this If that were fixed would rate it 4 or 5 a stars as it doesnt need to be fancy or slick and I dont mind the dated look and feelers long as it at least reembered my login        Love the airline Hate the app

The one thing I want to be able to do easily from the Southwest app is check in for my flight I can view my upcoming flight I can check in using my confirmation code and name But they are totally separate actions nothing links my upcoming flight confirmation code with checking in requiring me to type in information that should be easily accessible from the site I should be able to pull up my upcoming flight and select a check in button        Checking in

This app downloaded quickly and smoothly on my iPod 5th gen which uses iOS 841 It took just a few minutes to book my flightfar easier than on my laptop The interface is intuitive and extraordinarily well designed for small screens American Airlines please take note                 Best airline app Ive used

I found this app very useful for my recent flight I was able to quickly check in obtain my boarding pass add it to passbook and keep tabs on my flight departure status My one complaint is that every time you open the app it makes you sign in to your Southwest account If it needs to be passwordprotected doubtful I wish we could just use a 4 digit PIN Much easier              Useful

This is a pretty rudimentary app Check out some of your competitors and improve yours     Check out United Airlines App

I use the app frequently on my iPhone 5S and do not have any issues Would really like the ability to add my Rapid Rewards number to a reservation via the app I hate having to go online to do that and it seems like it would be simple enough to add to the app Other than that I like the app              Good app but a simple requests

You can not get a mobile boarding pass if the reservation is for more than one person     Not useful for multiple person reservation

This app makes it easy to book flights but has a major flaw in that one cannot use a gift card to pay And when you call customer service to try to apply it after the fact they tell you that you have to cancel your booking and rebook but you might not get the same rates Please make it so gift cards can be applied through the app        No gift cards

Listing upcoming flights but making you enter all the info manually to check in is an unacceptable lack of functionality     Fix Checkins

Could you please add the date to the iOS Passbook boarding pass Im a frequent flier so I have many same destination same time boarding passes in Passbook Sometimes it is hard to quickly know if I am using the correct one since there is no flight date and I if pick the wrong boarding pass I get the siren and red light of shame when trying to go through security           Please Add Date to Passbook Boarding Pass

This is not the worst airline app but definitely near the bottom I have a flight tomorrow which will not show despite being logged in If I enter my confirmation number it will offer me checkin but Ive already checked in and my passes are in Passbook I recently used it to check flight status on a tight connection This app said my flight was not due to leave for another hour When I got to the gate the flight wasnt even on the sign it was long gone Southwest seems to have an issue with the data sources this app relies on It may be time for a redesign For now Ill take my chances with the mobile website     Incorrect Information

Does not remember your log in or flight information On my way to the airport last week the app logged me out and I did not have log in information Flight information is not remembered and must be filled in every time Far inferior to every other airline app I have on my phone Dont bother downloading     Absolutely Awful

The app has failed two times out of 2 flights App locks up Had to use my laptop to check in SW needs to fix thisapp doesnt fit their reputation for customer service and efficiency     Love SW But Hate This App

This app is complete garbage Once I search for my flight I should be able to save that information Not enter it in each freaking time     Horrible

I dont fly a lot but had a few trips on southwest within a couple of weeks I downloaded the app and it was very useful for me to quickly and easily get to my flight information without having to login to the southwest website or dig through emails I found it really useful to check into my flights and get my electronic boarding pass                 great for checking in

Clunky and cluttered interface that makes it more than difficult to find how to get a digital boarding pass Forget about pass book integration completely        A joyless experience

The look and ease of using the app is good but consistently stops loading For example Ill click on flight status and app will show loading for a second and then just stop Seems to happen almost every time I use the app        Frustrating

I use the app all the time when I travel Southwest I can easily find my reservations and flight status and I can check in get my boarding pass and upload it into Passbook The only reason I dont give it 5 stars is that there is no link to WiFi in the app              Very useful

My last few flights I have not been able to checkin via this app It used to work Is it compatible to iPhone 6 I sure would hope so I also wish I could see the full low fare calendar when trying to book a trip Its not very convenient        Used to work

I generally like this app except for two things 1 You cannot save your boarding pass as an image This is a problem if my flight is delayed because after the scheduled flight departure time I can no longer view my boarding pass So I have to have one printed by the GA 2 If I open the app when offline even momentarily it will log me out and require me to log in again This is frustrating especially considering that Southwest requires my phone to be in airplane mode while on the plane Sometimes I forget to turn airplane mode back off after landing and then have to log into the app again        Logs me out and cannot save BP to images

I love Southwest Airlines so I am very disappointed that they have created such a poorly performing application This morning I awoke at 6 and tried to use the app to obtain a boarding pass and it hung I wound up using my PC This is not the first time this has happened to me Southwest should study other apps such as the one from United Airlines to see how to create a useful and functioning program I wonder if the quality of their app reflects in any way on the quality of their data processing department Do they do a great job for example protecting their customers data I hope they take that responsibility more seriously than theyve taken creating this iOS app        Poorly Performing App

App is getting better but users need to have a quick way to check in from the my travel tab by using the next flight information that is already populated        Check in issue

This app is not optimized for iPhone 66 Until thats done all other updates are pointless     Stop wasting our time with pointless updates

When your app is rated one star and a half it is time to ask yourself what is going on Here is my experience with this app Half a year ago I was flying frequently with southwest so I used their app a lot It wasnt shining but it was at least functional on all its menus and sub menus Now I downloaded it again for an upcoming tripof many to come this year and I am extremeny dissatisfied First of all the check in feature kept crashing the main reason of which all travelers download an app from an airline is not functioning properly I asked at the luggage check in about their app because in the past the app would do this only when it was a major service failure they said that their systems were not impacted and it is unusual for the app not to work Ok Now lets talk about the features It does not send a flight ticket to Apples passbook so no basic convenience there It does not use phones builtin notification service to let you know of any gate changes boarding time changes etc It does not have an Apple Watch app to compliment it so it is not current with todays devices Apart from that it is extremely unreliable I managed to crash it with check in attempts earlier than 2 days ticket number searches etc it is almost like the developer never bothered to parse the source code and look for bugs As much as I love the airline I hate the app This app it is not representative for the level of quality and care that SouthWest Airlines strives to achieve There are a lot of talented app developers out there get the right team behind your app and build it so it works and it is up with the times and in sync with todays technological trends and technologies Thank you     This app went from bad to worse

Will not log me in with my Southwest website userpw On iPhone6     Cannot even login

Tried to book a flight for February of 2016 and the app wont do anything after picking the month and year Already deleted it from my phone Wasted my time     Doesnt Work

First the continual your session is expired would you like to remain logged in prompt is just terrible Every 1520 min Next the status spinner is white and you cant see it to know if the app is busy it makes the app look like it was developed by a firsttime developer Next it takes 5 touches to get to a boarding pass And it times out frequently so that you have to redo that process more than once Integration with passbook is nice I suppose but Passbook itself takes way too many touches to get to the thing wanted I dont use it Ultimately I just want to open the app see my boarding pass and be able to use it for TSA or boarding within 12 touches Normally I find myself texting a boarding pass when I check in so that I dont have to come back and use the app again Thats terrible As a frequent flyer I use a number of these apps Southwests app is near the bottom of the pile and appears to be developed by a third party it lags sorely behind the other big guys The United app for example is actually a pleasure to use It makes sense doesnt have sessiontimeout nonsense and only takes 12 touches to get to a boarding pass So theres obviously a pattern to be followed Other uses have accurately identified the rest of the issues Ultimately SWA should protect its brand and invest properly in this app its embarrassing        2 years later same problems

Countless times this app has frozen or otherwise failed to function Im stuck flying southwest a lot and have tried to be patient but this is a tortuous     Worst travel app no make that the worst app period

Whats the point of this app if you cant log in I tried 3 times using my correct credentials and received error messages then I was frozen out of my account Had to call call customer service to reset password     Cant log in

The app interface and functionality are weak Navigations not easy simple or intuitive when choosing flights cities dates etc The app doesnt remember your login info if you delete the app and reinstall More of an annoyance to use than a convenience     Meh

This review is for both the app and the airline Im not sure if everyone else is getting better or Southwest is getting worse Maybe both But this app is slow can never connect and makes trying to check in for return flights iffy at best Get it together Southwest        Reluctant Frequent flier
