Santa Fe ✭ The City Different

Ill cut to the chase before any persnickety criticisms If you are visiting Santa Fe and own an iPad or iPhone but especially an iPad get this app and leave some of your paperbased travel guides behind YMMV with iPhone but its suited well to the iPads larger screen and faster processing Its not as complete as some of the travel books and it might well be surpassed by some of the traditional travel guides if those guides were available as apps or ebooks with hyperlinks embedded But for the price this covers most bases pretty well and importantly includes web links to far more information available elsewhere In many ways the apps brevity is an advantage both because 1 you really dont want to read on and on about some of these subjects you want to go there and 2 the use of good hyperlinks provides far more information and reduces what needs to be updated Also keep in mind that this is a 199 app and not a version of a 15 book There are a few things that could be improved IMHO The app lacks a back button and sometimes you need it If you tap on the little dogear maker on the upper right corner you will be permanently transported to the publishers list of guides with no apparent way home short of reentering the app Using iOS 4X reduces this problem with its multitasking but navigation is still less than wonderful There is no word search Your primary means of navigation and it isnt bad as far as it goes is a dropdown filter menu that limits and orders subject sections and pages If I use this for a few weeks I might well find that this filter is more than adequate and word search function is less important I do not live in New Mexico but I love the place and try to get there at least once a year Many people will probably find that the app omits a restaurant event or location that they think should be included Well the author and publisher deserve a gazillion karmic points for including a live dynamic comment function that allows you to make suggestions not only in real time more or less but comments that can be viewed by others whether insightful or not so much Hopefully the app will evolve a bit and be updated at least once a year              Easily Worth the Price

199 is not really much money but there is hardly anything on this website and certainly nothing original or unique My 9 year old grandson could have compiled it I cant help feel a little cheated     Cheated

I looked for an app specifically for Santa Fe for an upcoming Spring Break getaway with the wife With this one you cant go wrong All the information was spoton and up to date and it showed us how close we were to attractions and restaurants Ill definitely be using it again for our next trip I only wish our BB Pueblo Bonito had been included because it was at a convenient location and the owners were very hospitable                 Great App for Santa Fe
